We have heard various versions of this classic Burch story. Maybe you can add your versions below. Remember the 50% true rule. Brog
Bill and I were also remembering the first time we met Burch. It was at a tailgate party at a Stanford game back in the 80's. It was actually after the game when Burch pulled up to the tailgate site in a badly dented, kind of beat up Datsun. He jumped out, having just come from a liquor store, in a 1 piece, zip-up, silver or white painters suit that he was wearing as rain gear. It was pouring. He popped open his trunk that I think was tied closed with a rope, which was filled with beer and ice. The car was so dented we thought he had rented it for that afternoon from "rent a wreck" for fun. Something he would do! I wish I had photos because what he looked like in his painters suit, with his dented up car, with the trunk used as an ice chest, in the rain, was just priceless. He was nothing but fun!!!!!!!!!!!!
I missed being able to talk to you at Burch's service before I left that Friday. You were one busy man with so many people to talk to. You were an unbelievable brother to him in the last year and a half in so may ways. I'm so glad the 2 of you were able to spend so much time together. I also feel fortunate to have met you at Todd's. I hope we can all celebrate Burch's life every year, either on the day he left us or on his birthday.
You're a gem Brog. I hope we stay in touch!!!!
Love,
Carol
As I heard it the suit was a white Tyvek HAZMAT SUIT Complete with full goggles and rubber gloves. He always had a full set in his car. And yeah the post script is that old wreck was his regular personal car he had for years. The trunk had only ICE and Beer no actual cooler THE TRUNK was the cooler ..Who needs Styrofoam? Bill assumed he was going to abandon it in the parking lot... brog.
